the way you guys treat non-binary+gnc people and why it needs to stop.
- a 🧵 by agender person
-Constantly stereotyping us:
thinking that all of us use they/them pronounouns, listen to mother mother, have a mullet, are alt and love frogs, there's so much wrong with thinking that like not all of us use they/them pronounouns only and not all of us are like that
-non-binary people can use she/he pronous and still be valid, you guys need to stop invalidating non-binary people that use those pronouns and stop assuming they're cis
- there's nothing wrong if you do anything that's listed on the first tweet but people need to stereotyping us constantly
- the phrase "girls, gays and theys" again, not every nb people use they/them and second they/them isn't a nickname, it's a pronoun! That would be the same as saying " hello she"
- forcing the label "trixic" or "toric" to non-binary lesbians and gays. you need to understand that the white lines on the flags stand for NON-BINARY people. Not everybody feels comfortable with those labels and you need to stop labeling others
- excluding us when talking about trans issues, some non-binary people ARE trans (some might not label themselves as trans and that's okay!) you need to stop invalidating us and saying that " we're not trans enough"
- devading us by "amab and afab" it just feels like you're trying to put us back into boxes and in a binary. all of us are non-binary stfu with the "oh you're afab non-binary" etc
- constantly expecting us to be androgynous: non-binary people DON'T owe you androgyny, they can be feminine if they want or masculine. That doesn't make them any less non-binary
- making it seem like non-binary is a third gender: this is just putting us into a binary we're trying to escape, we aren't a third gender and will never be!
- using " she/he said" , not all people use she/he pronounouns and also saying "they" would be easier
Feel free to add other things! I ran out of stuff to say. Also cis people rt this
