I wish I could get cis gays and lesbians to look at the wave of anti-trans legislation sweeping the nation, in state after state, and see their own futures in it. I wish they could picture how they'll feel when it's gay folks who can't use the bathroom or go to school.

It's a damn shame there aren't more cis gays with a memory of the bad old days when they monstered gay men by saying they were child predators, the panic around lesbians in bathrooms, the decade of press freakouts over gay adoptions, no visitation in hospitals, cop bar raids...

I remember the history of our shared oppression in this nation. Why don't you? I educated myself on our history and our past and our community. Why haven't you?
