On IK's comments being taken out of context, I'll summarise all major things he said & point out exactly what is problematic.
1) Cases of child abuse & rapes of women reported in media are only a fraction of the actual no. of cases
(full marks. supported by evidence)
2)Strict law (Anti-Rape Ordinance) introduced to tackle this but law alone is not enough. Society needs to collectively fight against it.

- Strict laws are useless without implementation. Conviction rate in rape cases is less than 3%
- Yes, broader social change IS required.
3) Causes of child abuse & rapes of women:
3.1) Fahaashi meaning free access to adult content (even of children). Provides Britain & India as examples where Fahashi has affected
a) family structure
b) increased divorce rate
- Access to such material especially at a young impressionable age IS problematic.
- Objectification and sexualisation of women in media (including Hollywood & Bollywood) IS problematic.
3.2) Concept of pardah (different from fahashi/adult material) is to stop temptation in society.
NOT EVERY PERSON HAS WILL POWER/SELF-CONTROL.

THIS is where he completely screwed up.
Had he stopped at the first sentence, one could still give him the benefit of doubt that he is talking about pardah of both men & women.
But following this statement immediately with "not every person (every MAN b/c most rapists are men) has the will power to resist temptation (WOMEN b/c no woman gets tempted to rape men based on dress) excuses men from pardah & places the entire onus of pardah on women alone.
Why is this a screw up? He implies:
- Women who don't observe pardah are a temptation
- Not all men have self-control in face of temptation

If that isn't victim blaming, then good Lord, what is?
