Hi @kurtisgabriel, I read a bunch of your tweets surrounding @nathancsn and @EastBayRy trying to get you to talk to @Burnzie88 about him making a video saying "trans rights are human rights" and just wanted to touch on a few things.
Yes, the people that started this campaign are shitposters, they'd be the first to admit it. They've also already raised over 2K for a Bay Area LGBTQ+ charity and understand that what people with platforms say (or choose not to say) matters a lot.
You took a pledge to "get uncomfortable," but all I've seen from your posts from last night is doing all you can to maintain a sheen of allyship while saying you don't want to talk to a teammate about issues you yourself say are important.
Nate came to you directly because he's familiar with your stance on these issues, knows you're willing to engage with people on Twitter, and also that you have the ability to make this actually happen. You seemed like the perfect person to help educate a teammate on this issue!
Nate used to have a generic picture as a profile pic and was called an anonymous troll after calling out some people for saying all lives matter so he put an actual picture of himself as his profile pic knowing he'd start getting racist comments (which proved true!).
I'm hopeful you reconsider your position on this and let Brent Burns know about the campaign. Heck, you can get other Sharks to make videos too if he feels like he's being unfairly called out.
You can follow @fruitsareedible.
