Thinking about the time I was on Omegle and a child of 16 was conducting research about Autism for a school paper. IIRC he was also on the Autism Spectrum.
He asked me if I liked anime as a conversation starter (we were on the anime tag) and I said "Yes." and he replied with "Ok I think that you're probably autistic then."
To which I laughed and said "Uh I don't think liking anime makes you more likely to be autistic," and responded: "Well I think you are." and nexted me.
I wasn't offended, but I was very confused lol Turns out he is likely VERY right about me specifically and there is research that indicates adults with ASD tend to enjoy animated films and shows more than neurotypicals
I like to think he pioneered that study in college and is pushing the envelope on autistic studies. He could've also easily been trolling me, but the look of disappointment in my answer makes me think otherwise.
This was almost a decade ago. Thanks random internet child for the insight. I'm getting evaluated for ASD a decade later by a professional who takes me seriously and I still very much like anime.
