mono tracks as paintings by Whanki Kim and Yun Hyong-keun, artists whom joon admires the most - a thread;
tokyo - Kim Whanki, Song of Eternity, 1957 oil on canvas
Kim Whanki was a Korean artist who lived abroad and felt a disconnect from his roots. even in his abstract expression, he often incorporated colours and symbols of his home. a sense of... being lost.. is present in his art

seoul - Kim Whanki “3-V-71 #203” & “Plum Blossoms and Jar” (1957)

very traditional korean moon jars and flowers. on the left, is sorrow, regret and passion. each square and dot having been painstakingly painted in a way that the more you look at it, the more you feel from it - the depth and the arc of emotion.
moonchild - Yun Hyong-keun, Burnt Umber & Ultramarine, 1991
Yun hyong keun paints with his signature colours - burnt umber and ultramarine... colours that signify heaven and earth. strangely fitting with moonchild, don't u think? simple, yet deep and effective.

badbye - Yun Hyong-keun, Red in Blue, 1971, oil on canvas;
the bright red is ofcourse striking, passionate, almost dark in its brightness but seeping thru the cracks, the true blue breaks it's monotony to give way for depth. that its something that is unidimensional. it's very+

similar to how badbye makes me feel. on the first listen it might feel like a short, abrupt burst of emotions but the more u listen to it the more u understand that it's a lot more than just those distorted synths. it's... hauntingly complex.
uhgood - Yun Hyong-keun, Burnt Umber and ultramarine no. 300, 2000, oil on linen & Kim Whan-ki's 1971 diptych '05-IV-71 #200 (Universe)

like a visual representation of just that.
everythingoes - Whanki Kim, Song of Eternity, oil on canvas & Dawn #3, 1964-1965, oil on canvas
the deliberate symbolism and structure in both paintings, the colour blue - the colour of the sky, of tranquility, of fluidity - are all reminiscent of everythingoes.

forever rain - Yun Hyong-keun, Umber-Blue, 1976-1977. Oil on cotton & Kim Whan-ki's 2-V-73 no. 330, 1973, oil on canvas.

a gateway to heaven (due to his use of colours), to self-identification or to peace... The interpretations depend on the viewer, but they signify the last step. As does forever rain.

that have been painstakingly painted look like rain drops and their pattern looks like a ripple in a puddle when water drips onto it's surface.
It also for some reason seems to make the viewer feel the back breaking work gone into it... As does forever rain, again.

The vulnerability in that song must have been so so hard to put out to the public... But it resulted in a beautiful song.
Thankyou for reading ! this is all purely based on my (admin
) interpretation as a complete stranger to the work of art as a whole, so please excuse any mistakes or misinterpretations.
