A revolutionary idea that posed threat for oil companies ?

Stanley Allen Meyer owned more than 200,000 patents to his name in fields like oceanography , cardiac monitoring and banking. But his most popular patent was of Hydrogen Car.

1/
In 1975, when fuel prices in USA were skyrocketing, car sales literally dropped to zero. Many organisations went bankrupt and automotive companies were badly hit.

2/
At that time, Stanley thought of inventing a car that would revolutionise the automobile sector and cut the dependence on any kind of fossil fuel.

He thought of using water as fuel. The idea was to split water into 2 parts hydrogen and 1part oxygen.

3/
Hydrogen would be used to give power to wheels while oxygen would be emitted to the surroundings. The idea was path breaking as it would have saved trillions of dollars by eliminating the dependency on oil and more over it would be an environment friendly option as oxygen

4/
would be released as by-product. It could further solve the problem of global warming.

He built a water powered buggy and demonstrated across USA. People were quite impressed. It was also aired on Ohio News.

5/
He claimed on TV that his car would need 22 gallons or 83 litres of water to travel from Los Angeles to New York.

He sold the dealership to investors who could use his Water fuel cell technology.

6/
But soon things took a twist as he started making lame excuses to get his car examined by expert witness Michael Laughton. Subsequently he was sued by the investors in 1996. He , therefore, started looking for foreign investors

7/
On 20th March, 1998 Stanley had a meeting with two Belgian investors at Cracker Barrel Restaurant. His brother, Stephan was also present.

As soon as Stanley took a sip of Cranberry juice, he held his throat and ran outside.

8/
His brother also ran behind him. Stanley fell on his knees and vomited voilently. “They poisoned me, “ were his last words.

9/
Though the investigative agency shut the case after 3 months of investigations citing the reason of death as cerebral aneurysm, still some people believe that he had been murdered as his revolutionary idea posed threat for oil companies.
