Wwx literally is the pinnacle of morality. He not only repaid his debt to the Wens but went further & gave his whole youth away to protect and grant asylum to the Wen remnants. Who else could you imagine doing such a thing? His 1st life was not for himself, it was to help others.
Wwx attempted the impossible: giving everything for people who are less able than him. Wwx was a master of the 6 arts and the main disciple of the Jiang clan and he renounced everything, his name, his title, in order to use his power and skill in order to HELP OTHERS.
The novel begins with the story of his villainy & how he killed 3000 cultivators but then we see that wwx did everything he did because of love.

Wwx gave his golden core to his shidi and that resorted to him creating demonic cultivation in order to survive.
Wwx created his first fierce corpse: Wen Ning, because of love! Love for his friends & respect for their help when his entire clan was razed and his family destroyed.
Though Mxy summoned wwx into his body for revenge it is important to note that his reincarnation is tied with karma or the cycle of cause & effect. People with GOOD karma get good rebirths. Wwx got the best rebirth possible– why? because his 1st life was lived in honor of others.
In wwx's 2nd life he was given the chance to
- clear his name & reputation
- show the clans their hypocrisy
- end the cycles of hegemony (ie wen rule -> jin rule)

AND he was given the chance to live his life for himself, for love, for his son and his husband.
Why does wwx do what he does? Because his sense of justice is very strong. He understands that he is in a position of power, that he is more capable than others & rather than exploiting it he uses it to shield those who are blameless but demonized by his IMMORAL society.
Wwx's reputation in the jianghu world of MDZS is bad bc the people who comprise the world are immoral. In this kind of society, some1 who goes beyond societal taboos & QUESTIONS why injustice is allowed are the ones who become villified.
MDZS makes us look at the story from the 'villains' perspective so we can deconstruct our own biases abt wwx's actions and question 'what is black and white' and most importantly: who decides?
