I know most people tend to think daughters get to enjoy the best parental care. The whole "girls are fragile " line. Well this might be true for so girls out there.
But if you are a single daughter in a family of boys , then your story or let me say , our story might be different. While growing up I used to think life would be far easier being the only female child.
I would get excited when the boys go errands and I'm home relaxing and chopping the life of my head. Well all that changed.
I am all grown up now and it feel like I have been sentenced to a life of hard labor. It is one thing to care for yourself alone, or to care for an additional person but taking care of three grown men is no joke.
Personally i hate the fact that people don't understand how hard this thing Is. Waking up to doing house chores , cooking( Oh God , I hate cooking) and running what they term " female errands".
I hate going to the market and in a home like mine , it is expected of females to be the one in charge of kitchen affairs. Trust me when I say it never ends well. I suck at pricing goods , I sometimes cannot identify fresh meals and most times I'm just too tired to argue.
Now you know how everybody looks forward to Your meals ? How people expect you to know how to cook and boom!! You prepare the long awaited meal and it's a total disaster.
Well I know it happens but tell that to my parents and others who thinks I'm supposed to be a chef because I happen to be the only girl.
Now I know we have talked about the bad side of being the only girl in the family . let's talk about the beautiful sides of it. Well you Get to be a pro at video games. You automatically love football and you even start to act like a boy.
You start to love boy clothing's and accessories. I love that part the most. I love the confidence that comes with being around boys. You can relate well with men and you understand life on a Guy level.
I'm not saying being girly is not cool, but omo nothing beats having that Guy swag.

So I hope you now have some insights on what being the only girl in a Nigerian home looks like. Thank you for reading. I love you ❤
