psa: this is what works / helps me personally as an orthorexic !! i am not encouraging anything unhealthy and pls stay safe ! ily so much :)
so, u binged? thats okay! im gonna give u my fav tips for the day after a large binge :)
- FORGIVE YOURSELF !!
it doesnt matter what u do, if u dont forgive and forget you will not recover from a binge. it happened, get over it and move on !! act as if it didnt even happen if it helps :)
- WATER (& tea)
drink loads of water! i try to drink 3-4L minimum; i also drink 2-3 cups of laxative tea (not recommend for everyone, but if ur heavily constipated, i would say have a bit)
- SLEEP & REST
make sure ur well rested and calm !! dont stress urself out and if ur not well-rested, itll make cravings / urges stronger
- WORKOUTS
i dont workout after a binge (makes it feel like im purging), but light yoga/walking/stretching is recommended and helps the bloating; that being said if u like to workout and it makes u happy, do it! just be careful
- DIET
after a binge, i eat super clean and high res (800-1200cals). try to eat low refined carbs and high protein !! i like to eat eggs, greek yogurt, chicken, and lots of fruits+veggies !!
- DIET CONT
eat slowly and lightly, u dont want ur stomach to be in anymore pain than it already is :( if ur badly craving something small, have it (unless that triggers another binge)!
- DIET CONT
examples of food ill have are:
avo toast, scrambled egg wraps, matcha yogurt w/ banana, cauliflower rice, grilled chicken, ect !
- OTHER TIPS
i like to watch comfort youtubers/shows as it takes my mind off everything! also wearing something comfy can get u away from bodychecking (i like to wear big sweaters)
the next part of this thread will be how to prevent ur next binge !! ♡
- BINGE TRIGGERS
figure out ur binge triggers, is it the new cereal ur parents brought? did u get highly emotional (angry, sad, happy)? finding out these triggers will help u figure out personal ways on how to end/reduce them!
- TRIGGERS CONT
if ur binges r caused by emotions, figure other ways to express urself! vent on a google doc/journal, work out, clean, ect ! find healthy ways to release emotion :)
- TRIGGERS CONT
also timing! find out what times of the month u usually binge (for me, its the second week of the month); take a day around that time to have a planned binge/high res day! this will prevent a crazy binge :)
- DIET
incorporate small triggers at a time (ex, 1/4 of cereal with greek yogurt), this will reduce the likeliness youll binge on them!! also eating proteins and fibers that keep you full help quite a bit!
- OTHER TIPS
stay busy! clean ur room, make a tiktok, draw, keep ur mind off of food! my fav ways are watching something i love, cleaning and going on pinterest :)
- END
i hope u enjoyed this thread and i hope it helped! reminder this is based of me but i tried to make it as open ended as possible !! if u have any questions, feel free to ask :) ♡
