False claims of COVID-19 #vaccineshortage & the propaganda for American vaccines.
Ever since country has fresh wave of COVID-19, especially in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Kerala etc, all non BJP ruled, ruling parties have started to blame the centre for this surge.

They are claiming that centre is not supplying enough vaccines to them, implying that lack of vaccines is the cause of the surge in cases.

Trying to create panic among public by the claims of their states vaccine stock is running out soon.

While they claim shortage of vaccine,They are also making a contradictory demand, that age limit for eligibility for vaccine should be lowered, so that more people can be vaccinated.

This contradiction was seen in comments of MH health minister.

Similar demands have been made by other opposition leaders. Chhattisgarh & Odisha had also made similar claims, alleging inadequacy in vaccine supply. While non-BJP ruled states are trying to spread misinformation on vaccine availability,

ecosystem sympathetic to them is busy spreading another misinformation campaign on social media. Left-liberal journalists & activists have been demanding that India should ‘allow’ people to get vaccines made by Pfizer, Moderna and J&J etc.

Alleging that central govt isn't allowing these companies to sell their vaccines in India, they should be allowed, even if they are priced high, as those who are willing to pay should be allowed to buy them.

As per liberals, GoI shld approve these vaccines in India without any trial in the country, as they had already undergone trial in other countries & are already being administered to people.

However, both the claim and demand are completely incorrect.

DGCI has not rejected any of these vaccines. And it is wrong to demand that India should approve them directly. Both Pfizer & Moderna vaccines are RNA vaccines, which is a completely new technology in vaccine development.

A/c to Indian rules, local studies for these vaccines are required before they can be administered to Indians. the companies behind these vaccines need to be willing to market them in India, they need to approach the regulator for approval.

American company Moderna has not yet applied for approval of its vaccine. Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech so far have been selling the majority of their doses to high-income countries, including the U.S., Canada and the European Union. These are also the most expensive vaccines.

mRNA vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech & Moderna require a complicated cold chain to safely distribute them. During each part of process, the vaccine boxes must be kept at exactly the right temperature. Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine must be used within 5 days after transfer to refrigerator

Moderna vaccine can last in the refrigerator for a month an d the J&J vaccine can be stored in the refrigerator for at least 3 months. Pfizer is willing to manufacture vaccine in India, if the company is granted faster regulatory approvals & freedom on pricing & export.

At present, Indian govt is controlling the pricing & export of Indian vaccines Covishield & Covaxin, but Pfizer doesn't want it. Pfizer’s approach in developing countries in regard to the vaccine also raises concerns. Company is accused of 'bullying' several countries,

where co. demanded sovereign assets, including military bases & federal bank reserves, shld be pledged as collateral for potential future legal costs for any adverse effect to its vaccine.

company sought protection from any liability not just for side-effects of vaccine, but also from its own negligence, fraud or malice.

Contrary to Pfizer & Moderna, J&J vaccine will be available soon. Indian vaccine manufacturer Biological E Ltd is mass manufacturing the vaccine in India, with financing from the US govt. It's part of new vaccine partnership announced in first Quad Summit held last month.

According to the initiative, US govt will be funding Biological E for the production of vaccines developed in the US, including the J&J vaccine.

This means the J&J vaccine will be available in India under the Quad initiative of India, US, Australia and Japan.

Its really interesting why some self proclaimed intellectuals need to ask for USA-made vaccines while India herself is running world biggest vaccination drive with ease and exporting as well at the same time. Why opposition ruled states claiming shortage,

Are they making way for one more scam or some hidden agenda? Why would opposition leader ask for USA-made vaccines knowing Indian weather conditions and efficacy of all the vaccines, unless they are getting something out of it.
