IR @NASA AIRS SO₂ retrievals measured ~0.4 Tg SO₂ in the #LaSoufrière #eruption cloud. This is the largest tropical explosive eruption (in terms of SO₂ emission) since Ambae ( #Vanuatu) in 2018, and #LaSoufrière is still erupting as of 13:30 UTC Apr 10. https://twitter.com/airesEO/status/1380849679219363841?s=20

The ~0.4 Tg SO₂ #LaSoufrière emission is already the largest in the Eastern #Caribbean in the 'satellite era' (since 1979).
