Xavier mbuyamba and his future at Chelsea ( thread)
Mbuyamba is a 19 year old Dutch centre back who joined Chelsea from Barcelona in august 2020 until 2023 and is a centre back who is highly rated by many and was called the next van dijk due to their similar playing styles.
The dutch international is 1.95m/ 6ft 4 meaning if he broke through into the first team he would be our tallest centre back this would give us an aerial advantage against teams due to his presence and it would additionally help us when defending corners or balls over the top.
Xavier is also known for his calmness on the ball and his ability to avoid high pressure situations in a manner that does not make him lose possesion in a vulnerable area this would be helpful as all of our centre backs look uncertain on the ball at times except for Christensen
The Dutchman also will be able to use his physicality which will be needed for the premier league and much like van dijk he will be able to bully players as he will almost always have the physical advantage virtually making attackers frustrated when going up against him.
Mbuyamba will be able to partner rudiger in defence as their playing styles would compliment each other as they are both good in the air and physical and attackers would find it hard to get the better of them in a physical battle as well as this mbuyamba would bring composure.
Mbuyamba also has the ability to find a pass forward from a deep position and he is not afraid to move with ball at his feet which is a similar attribute that Christensen has who is also comfortable moving the ball forward and dictating play allowing wingers to ask for the pass
Xavier should have a loan move in the premier league to a lower position team if he is not able to get minutes at the club next season this will allow him to show his class and prove to Tuchel why he should be starting for Chelsea and why he is as highly rated as he is.
Mbuyamba is a phenomenal talent and deserves to be able to show his class at a high level he is only 19 and as a centre back that is incredibly young therefore he will still have a-lot to learn with plenty of time to learn it and he will have to be patient.
It is likely that it will be a couple of years before we see mbuyamba break through into the first team but his talented at such a young age can not be doubted and it would be a shame if Chelsea let this talent leave without showing his class at the highest level
