Reasons why Rohit Sharma winning 5 IPL Trophies is a "Chicken Dinner with 0 Kills":

The MI team saw struggle in initial years, even though they had Jayasuriya, Bhajji, Pollock, Malinga under Sachin's Captaincy but Sachin got injured before IPL, therefore Bhajju took Captaincy in initial matches losing first 4 matches. Bhajji was suspended for Sreesanth incident,
then Pollock took captaincy until Tendulkar returned, and in the end missed out Semi-Final by one point.
In 2009 Zaheer and Dhawan were traded to MI, Pollock had retired after first season, MI struggled a lot in 2009 to find consistency! Then MI bought Hard Hitting Polly in 2010!
But they were defeated by the Chennai Super Kings by 22 runs. The MI management and "Captain" (those who ask importance of Captain) was criticised for the "strategic errors" such as sending Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan at 3rd and 4th position! MI skipper Sachin won Orange cap.
Then in 2011 MI bought the Master Rohit Sharma for 2 Millions, RCB preferred Pujara and Saurabh over Rohit, meanwhile CSK chose Murli Vijay over him, and KKR felt price of 2 M high for Rohit but MI had other plans. MI qualified for playoffs, but MI fell short by 43 runs and lost
Similarly MI even lost 2012 IPL. In 2013 Kumble was made Mentor and after losses, Ponting stepped down from Captaincy position and Rohit was made Captain of MI, that's where everything changed! Under his captaincy, the Mumbai Indians improved a lot and won their first IPL title.
Saw many people tweeting that Rohit Sharma wins IPLs not because of his Captaincy but because he has the best team, so what about 2013 and 2015? When Rohit had this team, and Rohit and MI alone had eyes on Hardik and Bumrah when no one else was interested?
They continued their winning streak in the Champions League. Since then MI has won 2013, 2013 CLT20, 2015 , 2017, 2019, 2020 Trophies, where many teams struggling to get one IPL trophy he got 5 for the team! His strategies make him unique, his fielding placements,
calmness in pressure situations like MSD, taking tough decisions make him different. He along with managements invest in diamond youngsters like Bumrah, Kishan, Hardik and help players like SKY, Parthiv, Boult. Even youngsters feel so comfortable around him.
Like those 1 run wins in 2017, 19 Finals while defending, Rohit knows how to handle! A Leader has so many responsibilities and power which can take team to another level, either up or down that depends on how the leader is. Won 5 IPL trophies in 8 years for the team as a captain.
We fans think "Captain" is carried by the team, but the importance of Captain is much more important than what we can imagine, right from the Auctions to last ball of Final, the Captain has a lot to do. So, this was all about what a "Captain" Rohit Sharma does for team!
Now coming to batsman Rohit Sharma, again saw some keyboard warriors typing Rohit Sharma is carried by MI, so a player with 5000+ runs in IPL, 71% of his runs coming in winning cause for MI, a batsman scoring 300+ runs in 10 IPL seasons, and 400+ runs in 7 IPL seasons,
top scoring for his team 29 times (the most) in all the won matches, most Man of the matches as Captain in IPL, 2 50+ in Finals, most for any captain! Having such batting records for the team, and people with 0 cricketing knowledge type easily "Chicken Dinner with 0 Kills"
I repeat Rohit Sharma is the best player MI invested in, and Rohit not only as a batsman, but as a Captain has huge amount of role in bringing MI from the position it had, to the position MI is today! All it takes is a good leader who can build up the team to WIN!
Would love to conclude with these quotes:
"Leaders become great not because of their Power but, because of their ability to empower others!"
"Winning a Championship is Hard, retaining it is the hardest!"
