This year our PhD students have begun regularly meeting with @ChiUniSport staff for PG development sessions.
We’ve recently run a session on useful software/apps…check out the thread to see what we use, and let us know what you find useful!

Word Processors! No surprise that the majority use MS Word, but @DrJLake introduced us to @ScrivenerApp, which is a great tool to break down large projects into more manageable sections.
Creating figures! Colourful and creative figures are a great way to make poster presentations stand out, and can help with visualising complex concepts. @TessFlood likes @BioRender for visualising physiological mechanisms!
Creating Graphs! A well formatted graph is a great way to visualise patterns or relationships in your data. @onthegrape_vine recommends #webplotdigitizer as a great tool to reverse engineer underlying data from images of data visualisations!
Statistical Software. For basic statistical tests, @JASPStats is incredibly intuitive. While it may require a bit of skill, @rstudio is also a hugely versatile tool! ("If anything, just for the immense satisfaction you feel when your code finally works!" - @KieranAustin95)
Phone Apps. For remembering the multitude of different passwords you may need, @LastPass or @dashlane are great! @forestapp_cc is also awesome for procrastinators!
Do you use any of these programmes, apps or software? Recommend anything else? Let us know!
