1) As lots of stuff is happening right now around cannabis and cannabis leglization, here are some thoughts:
World: With the fundamentally broken CND/Vienna Consensus, international drug policy is in jeopardy
2) States that are in open disagreement with the international drug conventions such as Canada & Uruguay will be joined by other reform-oriented states to from an exemption group - this will be strongly opposed by countries like Russia and China
3) The European Union will be left dangling. It seems a matter of time until more countries (Norway, Luxembourg etc.) will legalize cannabis. This (hopefully) will cause a shift towards a reform-oriented drug policy with disagreement from eastern european states like Hungary
4) With federal legalization in the US on the horizon, i suspect western European countries steering into the same direction, introducing decriminalization legislation and maybe some model projects similar to the ones in Spain
5) Conservatives will cry out at first, will try to sabotage legislation around social justice but in the end, im fairly certain they will try to take credit for the booming economic impact of cannabis
6) For Germany, i can see several potential scenarios: Similar to same sex marriage, CDU/CSU will be pressured into legislation by other parties. Another scenario is that CDU/CSU suddenly realize that cannabis means business and will introduce capitalist/open market legislation
7) The last and most ugly scenario: The current shitshow calling itself german drug policy will continue for the next few years with cannabis legalisation being a too low priority for everyone. We hear more "cannabis is no broccoli rhetoric" and maybe...
8) Cannabis has been legalized in several other european countries that it becomes an issue to big to ignore.
Very interested to hear what others think about this
