I am baffled at seeing how many of my friends and colleagues are on NFTs platforms. Thats' why:
1) The World is running out of time for a climatic crisis. It is proved that cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies are energetically expensive. Let me add also useless, as no clear use case comes to my mind (except tax avoidance)
2) NFTs are like a giant Casino where the winner is always the platform and only a small % of people earn $. Most of the people there are losing money, like in every casino. Big names on those platforms are just making the casino more lucrative and the emerging artists poorer.
3) Behind every cryptocurrency (even Tezos) there is a board of investors with profit as the first goal. There is no such thing as #CleanNFT
4) The benevolent way in which galleries and art institutions that work with digital art look at NFTs platform is disgusting. There is no critic, they just hope to get a slice of the pie. Saying that selling digital art is nothing new, it's also a benevolent critic.
5) The way artists working on NFTs platforms feel entitled to do what they are doing without considering the consequences on the other people is embarrassing. The way they react to critics pretending to be offended, even for an unfollow on twitter, is childish.
I don't expect that artists who have always worked with digital arts all of a sudden start to plant 7000 oaks. I was just expecting to have friends&colleagues less naive and egoistic, and a bit more conscious of the World in which we leave.
Because it is the same World and we are here together.
