Acting in Covid... a thread... A few weeks ago, I asked my agents for a serious ‘chat’. I had submitted numerous self-tapes over lockdown and was feeling depressed as I hadn’t heard back from a single job. It has been two years since my last TV role, one year of The Pandemic...
... 24 auditions, most of which were self-tapes with Carol from down the road reading in in my garden whilst we all self-isolated & all of this whilst lots of personal nonsense was going on in the background in my private life. I was about to give up. I got on the ☎️ for the chat
One of my agents, Abi at @HMcPAgency was so supportive and we talked through my tapes and how the industry is right now. She gave me her TIME which is the most important thing anyone can give you. She heard my frustration. We laughed about it. This is support and it meant a lot..
...she told me to just keep going. I was a hot vulnerable mess that day but she cheered me up & reassured me. One hour later, and I am seriously not fucking joking, she rang me up and told me I had just been booked for a TV series. I thought she was joking. Two years I’d waited..
... I’d been jealous, bitter, resentful and most of all sad for so long- I absolutely love acting. It’s my thing. Sometimes it’s just your time and others, it isn’t. Anyways, it’s just a story- hopefully it helps. It’s hard out there & of course I will be worrying when this ends
...but in the meantime, there is a chink of joy in my heart and I am immensely grateful to my agents @HMcPAgency for sticking with me, to @saltbeefTV and @robkellycast for picking my name out the pile! Happy Friday folks xxx #acting #fridaymorning
And yes this all makes me feel vulnerable and embarrassed but it’s important to be real about these things. Failure, like success is so subjective and we are all so hard on ourselves. Hopefully I am now one step closer to marrying Channing Tatum & having my own range in Poundland
