So I just finished the first episode of "Imposters" and I wanna talk about it real quick mainly the "imposters" themselves and how their job works and how it is 100% not at all worth the trouble lmao.
So saving the intimate details the job of these "imposters" is to infiltrate a target's life and put themselves into a position where they can take them for all of the money they have. Savings, cash credit card limits, Checking allat gon as soon as the job is complete.
Essentially complying enough information over time through what ever means to achieve that goal. The main woman's role is to seduce the mark and make them fall in love. So hopelessly so that the mark doesn't see it coming luring them into false security and striking.
The woman is INCREDIBLE at her job. Case study work that would make government entities shudder. Woman could 100% be a spy. But these jobs take TIME like the example the audience is introduced to was a job that spanned a year and some change.
So she and her two associates complete the job clean the guy out for everything they possibly could, netting their outfit as a whole 1.4 million dollars. Nothing to sneeze at at first but then you think about splitting it three ways for over a year's worth of work.
Earning them each about 466k. For over a YEAR of work that is literally 24/7. You are quite literally never not working in this time frame. You might can steal a few moments for yourself but other than that always on, you can't do a damn thing to compromise the mark.
But later you learn this isn't just a 3 person outfit. They have an employer one who it is safe to assume has many employees under them because this employer takes 70% of the earnings from the gross of every successful mark.
So 70% of 1.4 million dollars is 980k leaving a 420k net for our little team and each with about 140k for their year long op. HOW is that at all worth it? Extremely dangerous highly illegal year long ops for 140k? count me tf out lmao.
Oh and a neat little mention is after these extended operations they have very little time off in comparison to the amount they worked. Their 3 person team was off for 3 or so weeks before they went to the next mark. So what about this occupation is worth it?
It's obviously a criminal outfit one with very high stakes the whole "The only way out of this is in a body bag" type situation but still. That is such small potatoes for the work and the woman is so fuckin phenomenal that her compensation should be at least tripled lmao.
Like she should be getting bonuses on bonuses for her exceptional work AND she does most of the heavy lifting.
Ah yes this entire thread on how even elaborate criminal enterprises should have fair wages and fair time off. Sometimes it's too hard for me to suspend disbelief obviously. Enjoy the TV show Coop damn lmaooooo
I will say, for the main plot everything mentioned in this thread is incredibly convenient. The main characters of the show need all of the time and obstacles that the imposters face on their ops in order to get on the main woman's heels. So that's pretty cool I guess.
