I can& #39;t follow the narrative of NFTs giving power back to artists because I still have yet to hear anything other than a vague clairvoyance of how this would be accomplished. We& #39;re at year zero here and already paying gas, listing, and/or commission fees to entrepreneurs. 1/4
2/4 - If you& #39;re spending your time being a successful artist, someone else will always spend equal time facilitating making money off of your art. Metallica didn& #39;t make as much as Warner Music Group. A director doesn& #39;t make as much as a film producer.
3/4 - Metakoven and their close knit group of crypto traders made more than Beeple. Before that, Instagram alone likely made more off of Beeple& #39;s work than he did. This is, to my understanding (as an artist who bought back all of my IP from labels) an unavoidable reality.
4/4 - Artists by nature have an oversaturation problem, and that means that there& #39;s always going to be 10 talented mofos who will take the deals you proudly refuse. Loss aversion is brutal. Decentralization is great, but it doesn& #39;t change supply and demand. I hope I& #39;m wrong. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷🏻‍♂️" title="Achselzuckender Mann (heller Hautton)" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckender Mann (heller Hautton)">
