Why you should read Pandora Hearts (manga) or at least give it a chance: a long thread
THE ART: Every picture that i will use in this thread is official art to showcase Jun Mochizuki's amazing watercolor artstyle
THE ALICE IN WONDERLAND THEME: If you're into that, you should definitely check this manga out. There's many Alice in Wonderland themes and concepts scattered throughout the story, and some characters are even based on characters in Alice in Wonderland
THE STORY: Oh god where do I even begin with this. This is probably the most well-crafted story i've ever read in manga in terms of mystery and intrigue. At first you'll be bombarded with questions, and when you get some answers they will come with more questions
And when you think "This is finally starting to make sense" JUN MOCHIZUKI WILL PULL THE RUG UNDER YOUR FEET AND FLIP THE ENTIRE STORY ON IT'S HEAD.
You will start to question everything you knew about the story and the line between who the heroes and villains are begins to blur
Some stories have like, one or two major plot twists in their course, but Pandora Hearts just pulls out twist after twist, surprising the readers at every turn
The good part? When you actually reread the manga you'll realize that the pieces were all there and you'll say to yourself "Oh wow how come i didn't notice that? It all makes sense now"
This is one of those stories that gets better when you reread. Each scene becomes different when you read it from the perspective of knowing the whole truth. You'll start to notice things you didn't notice before and you'll realize how intricate the story really is
THE CHARACTERS: I am telling y'all, every relevant character in this story is well-developed and has so much depth to them. Jun Mochizuki also loves drawing parallels to certain characters which make them all the more interesting
The way the characters tie into the story is genius as well. Every character is used well and not a single one is wasted. I can say with certainty that there was no wasted potential in Pandora Hearts
This might be a bold claim, but Pandora Hearts contains the most well-written character i've seen in any story. And as the story progresses, this character just gets better and more complex it is honestly such a sight to see. I'm not gonna say who it is cause spoilers
But goddamn this person is written so well and people who read Pandora Hearts i believe y'all know already who i'm talking about. If this makes you curious on who it is, go read Pandora Hearts and find out ;)
THE RELATIONSHIPS: The bonds between the characters feel so REAL. You really can't help but be sympathetic and root for them. You'll laugh and cry with them on their journey, and you'll miss them when you finally finish the story
THE VOLUME COVERS: Hello?? They're so gorgeous i can't even. Jun Mochizuki's artistry in writing and drawing is seriously so good
PRETTY PEOPLE: If you're looking for more fictional characters to simp for, look no further
Anyway, here's more pretty art because we must simply appreciate Jun Mochizuki's amazing art
Warning: Pandora Hearts is a very character and story-driven manga. If you're looking for action and amazing fights, this ain't it. This isn't a shounen manga
