Aight fuck Edmundson thread:

We're going to break this down into a few categories here

Offensively
Defensively
Special teams
Teammates
Unsustainability
Offensively:

Edmundson is a black hole of wasted offensive opportunity. In the odd chance there is a completed zone exit with Edmundson on the ice. In his 6 seasons Edmundson has been nothing but a detriment offensively to his team and an obvious lack of shots from the slot
Reasoning for the lack of shots completed from the slot is likely heavily correlated with the fact that every time the puck touches his stick it goes into a shin pad, off the glass, or a low xG point shot evident by the red at the LD spot Edmundson
You would think with the increased relative impact of point shots by Edmundson while on the ice he would be able to score which sadly is not the case, with 551 shots he has 22 goals which is less than 4 goals per 100 shots. These shots kill momentum
In general terms Edmundson does not produce primary points, this season Edmundson produces a primary point roughly every 8 games (13.5% of games).
Relative (PrimaryP/60):
Petry 1.43
Mete .91
Weber .70
Chiarot .45
Edmundson .4
Romanov .39
Defensively:

Edmundson once again has been nothing but a liability while on the ice for every team he has been a part of since his rookie season. Although that scary red dot right to the left of the net has decreased, likely due to the coveted crosschecks/60 stat he posseses
The idea that Edmundson is an elite defensive defenseman is simply not shown by statistics, Trailing Mete Kulak and Romanov in xGA/60 and high danger chances against on top of his bad relative results i dont see where that argument comes from
Special teams

Although there is no powerplay time to talk about, Edmundson boasts the second highest TOI shorthanded Edmundson allows the most goals against /60 while shorthanded, the highest xGA/60, the most high danger chances against.. and so on
Teammates:

In almost every case Edmundsons teammates have a better xGA/60:xGF/60 rate without Edmundson on the ice.
For defensive pairings with more than 50 minutes of TOI Edmundson is found on the worst and second worst pairings that qualify in xGF% especially with Weber which has sunk the Canadiens recently
Petry has a 5% greater xGF% with Edmundson on the ice
Weber is 3% worse
Unsustainability:

To begin, a short definition of PDO is the combined shooting percentage + save percentage. The standard rate is 1 and anything higher is considered lucky and vise versa if its bellow 1
Edmundson spent his career at almost exactly 1 at 5v5 until this year where he is at 1.042 suggesting he is benefitting from a save % of .943 and a shooting percentage of 9.83

Montreals overall shooting % is 7.94, and save % is .928

5v5 stats
This style of play is not sustainable, his numbers will regress, gifting him opportunity only hurts this team and it has started already
