one of the reasons i loved eren’s character is how morally gray he was. his highest value was freedom, and if anyway took away his freedom then no one could be free. for the entire series, we watched eren slowly go from an
angry and impulsive teenager to a vengeful and cold adult. his character progression was so well written. but now we suddenly find out he did this for... his friends? it just seems so nonsensical and out of nowhere.
2. mikasa’s reaction to killing eren
throughout the entire series mikasa has struggled with being extremely self sacrificing for eren’s sake. only later do we find out this was because of her ackerman blood. the parallel with mikasa and ymir was that they both were in love with
throughout the entire series mikasa has struggled with being extremely self sacrificing for eren’s sake. only later do we find out this was because of her ackerman blood. the parallel with mikasa and ymir was that they both were in love with
someone who hurts them. ymir saw mikasa as someone who could release her from the agony of love. ymir wanted mikasa to do what she couldn’t- let go of eren. except... mikasa didn’t let go. she kissed eren and then carried his head away to cry and wish she could see him again.
this completely reduces her character. it would have been so much more impactful if mikasa had killed eren and gotten the credit for it. of course i’m not saying she should have been completely stone faced, but she is just in another cycle of blindly following eren again.
3. eren killing his own mom
this honestly didn’t make sense to me at all. was there really no other way? what on earth did bertolt have to do with eren’s mom?
this could just be something that completely went over my head and if so i apologize for that.

4. eren loving mikasa
this just felt so out of nowhere to me. eren showed no interest in mikasa and a huge reason why she’s so devoted to him is because she’s an ackerman. now suddenly he’s board line obsessive and doesn’t want to see her with anyone else??

5. holes in eren’s plan
it is realistic for paradis to still be under attack even though they are no longer titans. it makes sense that the world would still be prejudice against the eldians because of blind hate. my question is though, why wasn’t this possibility considered by
it is realistic for paradis to still be under attack even though they are no longer titans. it makes sense that the world would still be prejudice against the eldians because of blind hate. my question is though, why wasn’t this possibility considered by
eren? eren saw the future. he knew this would happen. he knew wiping out 80 percent of humanity would only slow a war, not prevent it. so what was this all for? he says he wanted his friends to live happy lives and be heroes, yet he leaves all of the burden of what was done to
armin. now with the world attacking paradis island, there’s no way his friends can live happy lives when they are constantly under the threat of attack, now without the power of the titans to protect themselves. armin isn’t seen as a hero to anyone outside of paradis.
as a conclusion, i once again say this is all an opinion. i could have absolutely just missed something while reading, and if i did please let me know. no matter how good or bad you think the ending was, i’d like to remind everyone that it is NEVER ok to send threats or hate
to isayama or anyone who worked on the attack on titan manga or show. this thread is only an opinionated critique of some of the moments i found confusing or odd about the final chapter. everyone interprets characters differently as well so please take this with a grain of salt.
isayama put so much work into attack on titan, and even though i would have changed some aspects of the ending, i will always see isayama as a source of inspiration. #ThankYouIsayama, you’re dedication and hard work is admirable as always.
