for those unaware of what’s currently happening in north carolina, here’s a thread.

this past monday, three north carolina senators, ralph hise, warren daniel, and norman sanderson, proposed bill 514 the “youth health protection act”. if bill 514 is passed, it will deny trans youth gender-affirming healthcare (hormones, procedures, and other treatments).

by this act, medical professionals are unpermitted to perform gender-affirming surgeries or help a child transition, and if they do, they can have their licenses revoked, along with a $1,000 fine for each offense.

this act also allows a parent or guardian to withhold consent for treatments and even mental care services for a child to treat gender dysphoria. if an adult has been made aware of a child’s symptoms of gender dysphoria or if a child shows signs of gender nonconformity, +

the adult with this knowledge should notify the minors parents or guardians. this bill will put north carolina’s trans youth in danger. denying support, both by preventing physical changes along with mental health resources and a threat of outing, will cause immense harm.
