THREAD:
1) As many of you know, I love the show Supernatural. I particularly like Jensen Ackles & Misha Collins from that show. So when someone claimed that those 2 men were racists, I was confounded, & wanted to know on what that claim was based. Turns out, it was this tweet:

2) As anyone w/a basic knowledge of history can tell, that's a picture of the Roman Coliseum, built w/40,000 Roman slaves. Roman slaves w/n slaves based on race. They were conquests taken from Roman enemies all over Europe; most were white. Plus, they could earn their freedom.

3) Misha even posted the comment *from Rome*. He has since taken the tweet down, & apologized for it, apparently, but it wasn't racist in the first place, as anyone with a history background could tell you. It says nothing about Jensen's supposed racism - he w/n even tagged!

4) I pointed out these basic facts, and was called a "cracker" by more than one person who came to the original poster's defense. I was told that I was defending racism, & that by calling Misha's tweet a joke (which it obviously was), I was being racially insensitive. Pfft. No.

5) I'm not in favor of racist attitudes, or even jokes about race. I am in favor of accuracy about historical facts. Taking a good man to task over a tweet that is in no way a racist comment b/c *you* don't know your history will get you a smack down. No, I w/n apologize for it.

6) I have nothing to apologize for. Neither did Misha. And Jensen certainly doesn't - the original tweet poster didn't even try to justify bringing Jensen into the entire mess.
