I'm listening to my classic Jmusic playlist (yeah that still happens :P ), and I wonder how some of these artists who never made it big would feel if they knew that a decade and a half later, someone on the other side of the world is still appreciating their music...
Wondering because the random playlist went for NUDYLINE - Shakunetsu no Odoriko, then THC!! - Little Bird, then CASSIS - LOVE AUTOMATIC, and Emi Tawata - Yura Yura. In a playlist that includes the full discography of Ayami Hamasaki and Namie Amuro, that was feat XD
I wonder who sold the smallest amount of copies in that list :P My bet is on NUDYLINE but by a dozen of units, tops XD
Oh my God that is such a fun string of songs. And since I miss the good old days when I used to livetweet my random Jmusic playlist, here's the latest song it's playing.
...Hm, that song deserves a second Zolpidem.
ABORT ! ABORT !
Oh God I used to bleed that song.
Apparently tonight the Gods of Jmusic have decided we're going for a (mostly) niche side of the playlist.
Ah ok we're not even pretending tonight.
Are any of these songs even under 10 years old ? XD
This playlist includes every single ever released by the Hello! Project and yet this is what VLC is choosing for me tonight. Gotta love random playlists really. I remember falling in love with the song and promoting it around me like I had found gold.
The sad thing is that so many of these songs have basically disappeared by now. I'm playing my mp3s but I know I had all of them in video at some point (until one of my music videos harddrive crashed and I lost a solid third of it), but now they're nowhere to be seen.
For instance no way of finding CASSIS' LOVE AUTOMATIC now. I mean it's not an *amazing* song, but did it deserve to die like this ?
Oh good, at least Hidemi Uematsu - TRAUMA (next on my random playlist) is still around.
Can't put my paws on RYUKUDISKO - Starlight Waltz feat Emi Tawata though (which I was reminded of because of the solo Tawata song that played earlier) u_u
You know when we lost a HUGE chunk of Jmusic patrimony ? When MegaUpload died. Thousands of Japanese music videos were uploaded there (among other things of course), of all eras and all genres. I know because I uploaded a lot of them there for @TerukiParadise :P
On our little website alone, we had a few thousands of music videos, almost as many live performances (though from music shows mostly, and on occasion from concerts released on DVD, so they were more mainstream than the music videos on average), and then some. All of that was -
- lost forever when MegaUpload died. Some of these music videos I still have because some harddrives have survived, but others completely disappeared. If anyone else had them post-MegaUpload, they never reuploaded them, and neither did I to be honest.
And I know my community (me, the website's team, and our visitors) was not the only one to be into collecting Japanese music videos, so multiply that by at least 5 or 6. So much of it lost forever.
Was it all good ? No. Was it all part of the history of one of the biggest music industries in the world ? Absolutely. And a lot of that history is de facto erased.
Ah, an attempt at mainstreamness from VLC tonight, with Koda Kumi's EX TAPE !
Those are music videos I don't really worry about XD
I was actually thinking of that song the other day while watching this Kpop music video, for some reason :P
(The tape. The tape is the reason)
Ok we're in the mainstream again, that's a little bit less fun :P
It's hard to tell, does she like butterflies ?
Oh wait that's the LONG version on Youtube ! Mine is only 3:11 !
Hahaha well, that's the end of my Jmusic evening I guess. Here's a Japanese song from a Kpop group XD
VLC setting me straight :P
Alright I'm going to bed, but my apologies to anyone seeing this thread :P
(I *did* miss livetweeting my random playlist, maybe for once I should do it for Kpop)
