HOKAY, SO

i picked up the twins from school 3 hours ago

Z was crying because she got an X next to her name, instead of a star (turns out it was some other kid's X, but she thought she was in trouble)

told them we were gonna go get ice cream for dinner

everyone rejoiced!

got to the ice cream place, everyone was excited

girls picked out orange and watermelon froyo

me: do you want chocolate too?
Z: no! this one! (vanilla)
E: yes!

got everyone what they picked, complete with sprinkles and gummy frogs

all was right in the world

sat down outside, everyone was chowing down on ice cream

Z looked at E's bowl

"i want chocolate "
"you asked for vanilla, you got vanilla, eat"

commence tantrum

E and i finished while Z sat and screamed on the sidewalk and her ice cream melted

this went on for 5-10 minutes

threw everything away

tantrum escalated

packed kids in car

E: *singing at the top of her lungs*
Z: *scream crying at the top of her lungs for the next 25 minutes*

got home, sent Z upstairs

E and i sat downstairs and watched cartoons

Z stopped finally, came downstairs, and we talked about what happened

me: do you guys wanna go ride bikes?
them: yea!!!

got outside, got their bikes

both immediately started fighting over who got to be in front first (literally happens every time)

so for 3/4 of a mile, they took turns pedaling and smiling vs pedaling and pout/crying

there was a brief intermission because there were puppy distractions

and then it continued

got home

E peed her pants

and Z fell in the sprinkler

more screaming

got everyone in the bath

both managed to injure one another with their toy fishing poles simultaneously

more screaming

poles confiscated

bath ended early

got everyone in pajamas

walked in on E face down on the floor crying because Z took one of her toys and hid it

we are now all in bed, me sitting between them

because twins means i'm a permanent mediator until they turn 18

i am looking forward to snuggling them until they fall asleep

and sitting down to games, a movie, and a glass of wine

followed by 2 or 7 more
