200 cases in a gym is an airborne superspreader event. No other mode of transmission explains it. People have said they never took their mask off and caught it anyway. That gym was a covid hotbox. And I’m sorry but that’s public health and ID’s fault, not Dan Marino’s.
It’s increasingly frustrating for me to see influential doctors that could make a difference continue to avoid this issue. They talk about being outdoors but they won’t say *why*. 440 cases. First casualty was only 40 years old. You know who you are. Your silence is complicity.
Dan Marino and other gym owners were NOT given a safe reopening plan.

It’s not gym owner’s job to know the science. It’s our leadership’s job to know the science and make safe choices. I’m appalled that @francoislegault asked Dan Marino to apologize. Scapegoating a private citizen for his failures. Legault owes Mr Marino an apology.
In fact he owes all of Quebec City an apology. And all of Quebec for his terrible record managing this pandemic. Where’s our apology for all the LTC, hospital and school outbreaks? Where’s our apology for 10,000 deaths? Where’s our apology the hospitalisations and long covid?
This gaslighting was truly next level.

Edit: I know this is a hot take. I’m not absolving this gym owner. I’m taking issue with *our premier absolving himself* of any responsibility for the current situation. We should be focusing on the fact that this was an airborne superspreader event. The rest is a distraction.
Here’s another treat to prove my point about our premier. He took issue with the EMSB defying his orders to end hybrid schooling for sec 3-4-5. We were in no position to relax measures with the variants spreading. He relaxed them anyway. And now here we are, exactly where many said we would be.
130 cases in 2 schools in the Quebec City region and 600 people in isolation. Cheerleading practice. Part of the relaxations permitted by our leaders at the wrong time. Who’s fault is this outbreak? How many parents caught it from these teens? How many are ill? Who owes Quebec City an apology for this?
While I’m here I might as well point out that the same measures were relaxed in the Outaouais and Chaudières-App regions at the same time. Same results, rapid rise in cases. Lots of outrage on this post at the gym owner’s anti-mask stance. I agree, it isn’t safe to be unmasked indoors. So where’s that same energy for the official guidelines that made it perfectly within the rules to take off your mask while exercising?
