Today I got an email at work asking that we change to using person first language. I responded cheerfully and educationally why we use identity first language. The person also wanted to know why we have autistic people work together 1/?

The person said that having coworkers who are NT will help the “people with autism” because they can provide friendships and social lives that “people with autism cannot provide”...I explained the work environments we offer and benefits of working with other autistics 2/?

Including the study on autistic/autistic communication, and how many of my coworkers have their closest friendships at work because they feel more comfortable around autistics. I was really prepared for a snooty response back about their special Ed superior expertise 3/?
