The vaccine announcement last night has a big impact on disabled people, particularly those of us in the 1b group. Now, we have to make hard decisions, based on very little data or information. Again, our community will be relying on each other to figure this out.
I'm a bit sceptical of that, but ok. Apart from that info, there's NOTHING about what this means for us.

I'm very glad those who got the first dose safely can have their second. But there is a huge amount of us still waiting.
I fear very much that this info will be used to justify the slow down of the rollout for those of us who have spent the last year trying very hard not to die.

Will clinics be afraid to give anyone under 50 the vaccine? Will they make blanket ban decisions? What if they do?
This kind of very public 'advisory' will be heard as a ban by many clinic administrators, putting more barriers in the way of getting the vaccine.

The idea that we should wait to the end of year is so hard. Many disabled people have given up so much during COVID.
I had started to imagine that I could see friends, or even go and visit my mum and sister for the first time in two years. This morning, it doesn't feel like that's going to be possible and that's hard.
I am angry that YET AGAIN disabled people are just invisible from these kinds of huge announcements, when we are some of the most affected.

I'll do some digging to find out more info today, but this shouldn't have to happen. We matter.
