I was almost hit by a cop car crossing the street at a red light, by two officers who were obviously not paying attention while driving then 30 seconds later I was almost attacked by a homeless man on my street. Those cops were a few feet away and didn’t come to my aide. (2/7)

I’m honestly glad they didn’t because I know how cops interact with Black men especially volatile Black men. They would likely have caused him harm and thrown him in jail at best, or killed him at worst.

In a Dianne-led NYC, these cops likely wouldn’t have been patrolling uselessly as the NYPD budget would be cut in half and redirected to programs and departments desperately needed by our city. (4/7)

One of those departments would be the Community First Responders, who I could’ve called once I was safe to come and help this man who was obviously having a mental episode and needed support of professionals. (5/7)

I want to live in a city where that man was never put in the position to be handling his situation alone and where I can walk the streets without fear of physical harm by anyone, especially not the officers who are supposed to protect us. (6/7)

That’s why I want to live in Dianne’s NYC and why it’s personal for me and all of us volunteers. Because she has made it clear her NYC is all of our NYC.
