@VeronicaJArt gave y'all a good glimpse at the plethora of people involved in the great world of garment design and production. Now let me give you a little on all of the tech. https://twitter.com/VeronicaJArt/status/1380251523142324225
First a little background. My 1st career was software engineering. My 2nd was fashion design/tech design. My 3rd was product development/supply chain technology.
So I have touched both sides of this
So I have touched both sides of this
Fashion Design involves a LOT of tech. This didn't use to be the case but the fashion industry has evolved.
I'm not going to dive too deep, just give you a taste of some different areas to explore.

Fashion Designers:
Many draw by hand but overseas production often requires digital renderings in Adobe Photoshop, or technical drawings in Illustrator.
The industry is moving toward 3D development which now enables designers & pattern makers to "see" the designs faster.

3D garment development involves creating fabrics, colors, and actual measurements on virtual fit models.
This is very similar to video game development if you like that sort of thing

Then you have the Product Lifecycle Management systems (PLM). They hold all the details from concept drawings, artwork, sizing/body measurements, materials, buttons, etc to communicate between teams & factories
These systems are a big deal and all your favs use them

PLM tech is good for a person that likes the process of creating fashion and also some tech (like me
)

That PLM system feeds into
- financial software systems (if you like numbers that's for your)
- merchandising, retail, and ecom (if you like selling, knowing the customer, and web sales this is for you)
- warehouse & logistics(big $$$)

Digital asset creating & management is another good one for you creatives
All those pics, logos, prints for materials, colors, etc need someplace to be created, stored, and archived.

I'm very big on people including the fashion world in STEM & STEAM conversations because there is a lot of technology needed to support such a creative industry. You can get the best of both worlds.
All of your favorite clothing companies have dedicated IT teams. If you are ever curious, take a look at their career pages for ideas on how to combine your love of fashion with a career in tech.
No you won't be designing anything but you will be a part of the process

In all seriousness, if you like animation or 3D development start pitching your skills to some fashion companies.
The typical designer hasn’t spent time learning 3D design which is why many companies have hesitated to adopt the tech. https://twitter.com/sauniell/status/1380269103085150210

3D Dev is valuable not only for developing samples and improving production times. They are now using it for sales and fashion shows
