A North Star:
- is the one thing that keeps you guided & helps you make decisions
- keeps everyone pointed in the same direction
- is measurable to hold you accountable
You will be confident you are working on the right stuff, instead of being reactive.

As the marketing leader of your company, you must be aligned with the overall goal of the company. Get out of the marketing weeds.
What is the company's main goal & make sure your marketing North Star directly affects this goal.

Don't keep your North Star a secret. Talk about it with the CEO. Is there agreement?
What about your boss, sales team, or product team?
If no agreement, you need to understand why & adjust. Is your North Star too narrow? Not aligned?
Typical Marketing North Stars:
Grow revenue
Cut expenses
Increase qualified leads
I personally like "grow revenue" as my North Star.
I have been in situations where the company had a cash flow problem & I had to focus on cutting expenses. That was no fun at all.

Your North Star guides your priorities. Each task can be evaluated as to how it impacts your North Star.
Change the logo? Will that directly & significantly impact revenue compared to other tasks on your plate? If not, then the back burner.
