I see all these people in football going on about how people who use social media should have to verify their identity to use social media, but now I'm thinking this is just going to scare people away from using social media, as social media used to be a place where people could
escape reality and talk about what they really wanted to talk about, but with this new thing that football clubs and etc are suggesting about verifying your identity, no one will feel safe going to social media to talk about their problems and trying to meet people anonymously
and make new friends. Honestly the whole reason why I got social media in the first place was to follow my favourite creators and such to see what they do and be amazed by what they did. I don't want to have to go through a lengthy process having to explain who i am to a social
media sign up page just to look at some funny pet videos or look at some cool upcoming news from some of my favourite content creators. I think that making people have to verify their identity on social media, will make the introverts of the world be scared of social medias
and not want to use them. This will result in a lot of people not wanting to use social medias because they feel unsafe and exposed to the real world on there, when they just want to watch their favourite things from an anonymous view point. All in all, I want racism in football
and other sports to stop, but forcing people to verify themselves on social media is not the way to go about it. The way it should be handled is like discord. If you say something hurtful to someone they should get a punishment, like a 1 day suspension and the punishment
increases the more you commit the crime. There's also this function on social medias where you can block users that harass you and call you names and I don't know why footballers aren't using these features to deal with the trolls and idiots. Just because these famous footballers
feel threatened by the small minority calling them names and etc, doesn't mean you should take away the anonymousity that social media gives to introverts like me.
@BBCSport @BBCCambsSport @PTAlanSwann @DMAC102 would you mind taking a look through this thread and maybe give your opinions on this? I feel very strongly that football is going in the wrong direction about this and I really want this point of view to be heard.
