I used to like Fareed Zakaria. I try not to miss his Fareed Zakaria GPS show on CNN. My respect for Fareed wayned when he took offence with Trump saying Nigeria is a beautiful country he will like to visit someday. Now we all know it's just diplomatic niceties. Everyone knows.
However Fareed went ballistic trying to prove Nigeria is a failed state and Trump is ignorant not to see that. Nigerians aint as educated he claims. But Nigerians in the U.S are the highest earning income group, outstripping Asian and Caucasians. Then began the comparison with
Botswana. Comparing a nation of 200 million people to Botswana, a nation of 2 million. This was when I observed for the first time liberal news networks in America are ten times more stereotypical of Africans than conservative media outlets. They are experts at identity politics
I just came across another piece from good ole Fareed and a U.S congressman talking about the inevitable collapse of Nigeria. This shows the arrogance and ignorance of U.S politicians and pundits. Lets be frank, one countries government has grown considerably stronger
and consolidated its democratic institutions, while the other has grown weaker. Nigeria has had its second peaceful transfer of power in the midst of a decade long insurgency. Unlike most nations a one party system cannot happen in Nigeria, like SA with the ANC.
Say what you want we have a thriving democracy that is growing stronger. There was no post election violence after election results was announced. Nigerians did not take to the streets burning peoples home and businesses chanting not my President.
When Trump won violent protests, stoked by the media broke out all over America for two weeks in a row. Police cars were burnt. 12 people lost their lives, business were looted...all because Trump won.
When Trump lost re-election. Payback time. Thousands of angry mobs stormed the U.S Capitol building. Congressmen had to be rushed to an underground basement in the building. One person was shot dead. Two policemen died. Lets call a spade a spade.
..in recent years while America's democracy has grown weaker. There is a better chance of America's government collapsing than Nigeria's. If CIA prediction and a decade long insurgency and covert machinations cannot break up this country then Nigeria is going no where.
We have to just be realistic about things. Nigeria's government is no where close to collapsing. That entire concept is just completely bizzare. Nigeria's democratic institutions over the last decade has gotten stronger.
Why are these guys obsessed with the idea that someday Nigeria will collapse. For the past 20 years they have been calling for this "collapse of Nigeria". In 2008 the CIA predicted the "Breakup of Nigeria by 2015". So sure was the U.S that three days before the 2015 election
three U.S Marine Osprey aircaft landed in Ghana's Accra airport with 300 Marines on board Their mission? To move in and evacuate westerners when the shooting starts. Guess what, turned out to be the freest and most peaceful elections in our nation's history.
Today external entities give out hundreds of thousands of dollars to so called "activists" to stoke civil unrest and force a civil war. Guess what..it ain't happening. We are still here. Then they said Covid 19 will wipe out 50 million people. Guess what we are still here.
When the millions of dead bodies they predicted never came to fruition they began funding research groups to try find out where the dead bodies were hidden. It's just not possible for Africans to have the lowest infection and death fatality rate while more than half a million
..in the U.S have died and 25 million have been infected. That is unacceptable. They continue predicting doom but fail to see they cannot replicate what happened in Libya in Nigeria. The culture and way of life is different. No one man can rule for 42 years in Nigeria. Nigerian
society is a magnitude of times far more advanced than northern African or francophone society. This is a vestige of our colonial past with Britain. Even when we where even under colonization Nigeria was mostly self governing. Most Nigerians never saw the face of a white man. We
.. have not experienced direct oppression by the white race hence Nigerians have no concept of what it's like. We are hyper independent by nature. These pundits do not understand the nature of Nigerian society. This is the nation whose people created the worlds
second largest movie industry and fastest growing music industry completely independent of the government. Today Nigeria's entertainment industry contributes 20% to its GDP, (even though they contributed close to nothing in support for the entertainment sector).
They keep predicting doom and then end up scratching their heads when it never happens, wondering what went wrong. They cannot honestly look at Nigeria and think we are in a position of weakness. Nigeria is getting stronger. Meanwhile lets look at the United States as an example.
Look at the U.S right now. Their their form of governance has never in the history of America been as weak as it is right now. This is the interesting thing . America is always going out saying Africa needs to change. We need to embrace their values and system
Only when we embrace their values can we be able to achieve success. This theory has been proven wrong. Look at China. China has proven to the world that there is another way to prosperity. If you are looking at these two countries, which country is experiencing a decline
..in llegitimacy, government? Its the United States..Lets be real. There are millions of Trump supporters who believe Biden is President because he stole the election. When Trump won there were millions of Hillary supporters who believed Trump won the election because of Russia
Look at China. The U.S calls Xi Xingpin authoritarian because he will be President for life. Well guess what, the Chinese people put him there. He has a 90% approval rating. The Chinese are smart. They see how politics infighting in the West kills long term planning. Chinese
are culturally long term thinkers. Eighty percent of the world's poverty alleviation in the last 30 years happened in China because of long term planning. If they had to fight and bicker and try to destroy each other every four years China will be nowhere near what it is today
I love America.. but they are so obsessed with being number one on the world that they fail to look at the biggest problem, and that is looking in the mirror to finding out the change that needs to be made.
