IOW- How they thought about what they thought needed to be changed; people had to 'look at their looker' so they could see differently so they could know something they couldn't know otherwise.

IOW- The fundamental problem wasn't that people were sinful/stupid: it's that they were certain...committed to their frames rigidly...unwilling to lose control of their version of reality.
IOW- Repentance is about changing how we think so we can change what we think.
