I don't want to list all the reasons why this hyper abusive culture in showbiz is fucking ridiculous because, as stated, THE REASONS SHOULD BE OBVIOUS. But I do want to say this one thing: 2/15
It doesn't have to be this way. It never had to be this way.

The notion that good, quality, mind blowing, barrier breaking, important, silly, honest, fun and wonderful entertainment needs to come from a place of SUFFERING is an absolute falsehood. 3/15
This "suffering = important" lie was created by a small few (I'm gonna go with patriarchy on this one but pick your "archy.") who get a huge dose of yummy "power feels" through dehumanization.
It's even been romanticized, as if being horrible makes them captivating. 4/15
It's a sick joy these people get, and when you step back to see it for what it is, it's actually pretty embarrassing.

These abusive figure heads need to be feared so badly that they need to behave like perverted, racist, cave men? "Me throw mug now!" Fucking really?? 5/15
And here's the big kicker to this narrative -- NONE OF THIS BEHAVIOR CONTRIBUTES TO THE WORK.

Destroying someone's desk didn't win "No Country For Old Men" any Oscars. Firing a woman for having diabetes did't get "To Kill A Mockingbird" on Broadway.

BIG POINT COMING: 6/15
NOT ONLY IS ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR NOT THE JOB, ABUSIVE BEHAVIOR PRODUCES BAD SHIT. 7/15
I know I know... "but tantrum cave man has an EGOT!"

That's because that shit won IN SPITE OF HIM.

Also, if something deemed "good" was made in horrific conditions, imagine how infinitely better it would be without those conditions!

MUCH.

I can first hand say that the showbiz stuff I have worked on that has been in a respectful, happy work environment has produced widely celebrated and acclaimed work. The best of my career so far. 9/15
The work that I, and MANY of my friends, have been on that's had Rudin behavior - and honestly I've been fortunate to have been in (mostly) nice work places so I'm mainly going off witnessing my friends cry, stress and be miserable in their job - has been bad. Always.

10/15
So if the culture of Hollywood doesn't want to change because of the OBVIOUS REASONS (like, you know, moral and humane) then maybe it will change because SUFFERING LEADS TO GARBAGE PRODUCTS.

11/15
For some reason, the dogma has been the opposite, that suffering is what leads to greatness, which is how unnecessarily abusive figure heads have been able to keep going.

But it's just not true! It's never had to be this way! It's so embarrassing that it's been this way! 12/15
I got into showbiz because I LOVE IT. I LOVE writing and acting. I LOVE watching TV. I LOVE making people laugh. I LOVE getting to live my dream.

I did not get into the biz to suffer and cause others to suffer.

I'm not about being "in the trenches" for a popcorn flick. 13/15
I'm here the same reason everyone is, for the season wrap gift hoodies and to bitch about what's for lunch. 14/15
But now that I am lucky enough to be in showbiz, I'm going to add this to my agenda:

Demolishing the INSANE falsehood that suffering equals important and that abuse is part of the deal.

Because, you see, I want to work on stuff that's actually good.

End Thread.
