I’ve seen Left Twitter pandemic discourse move from “Let’s all do our part for a while to flatten the curve” to “I’m going to live pandemic life for the next three years, and anyone who isn’t is a bad person.” And as someone who has dealt w/covid, I’ve earned the right to a vent
Id like to remind people:

1. We’ve always known the goal was to flatten the curve (until vax), since complete eradication is unlikely

2. Im a leftist bc I believe in personal choice. YOU can in fact still be a hermit and wear a mask 3 yrs from now without demanding everyone do
This “I demand the precautions continue indefinitely” not only dissuades reluctant onlookers from wanting to comply w/prevention efforts NOW, but also quite frankly, makes Leftists look bad (like we aren’t for personal freedom)
So yeah, let’s all work together to prevent spikes while we get people vax’d, but someday in a scientifically-informed time span that is shorter than indefinitely, I DO plan to go back to normal. And if ya’ll don’t want to be my friend then, that’s okay
