April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. A major class action settlement on former gynecologist George Tyndall - who for 30 years of his time at USC assaulted hundreds of young patients on campus - was just concluded. I was one of them, 8 years ago. 750+ students came forward.
Records showed he favored young students from Asia. Students with English as their second language, was not yet familiar with how a pelvic exam normally goes, and those who tried their best to keep heads down and stay away from trouble.
I didn't know what to feel when I got the settlement check. It made me think a lot about Atlanta. At least I'm alive? And some of those USC kids had it way, way worse than I did. I know I shouldn't, but I feel guilty. So I'm trying to shed it as donations to relevant orgs.
