Post MFT notes thread
-20-ish years in the Army this is hands down the most functional and professional course I’ve ever attended
- Bear with me. STOP TRAINING FOR THE ACFT, TRAIN FOR YOUR METL. Don’t train for the assessment, train for the Indiv. and Collective tasks you need.
-Think about it. If you boil down your METL tasks, they correlate to certain strength and conditioning needs. Train for those, and you’ll prevent injury and pass ACFTs.
-this means: DON’T CREATE DUMB FUCKING ARBITRARY UNIT STANDARDS. Smarter people than you are taking care of it.
- Instructors have the professionalism to encourage questions that stump them and they work to resolve those unanswered questions and then disseminate the answers (unfortunately a rare trait in today’s Army).
-VERY unfortunate amount of the class is taken up teaching students to convince their leadership to listen. This means that enough MFT grads have reached back to the school with complaints of dismissal by their CDRs and SELs that it has to be a block of instruction. Huge bummer.
-LISTEN to your MFTs. Hold them accountable for creating quality programming, but you sent them to a school, use them. Put them on your calendar for a debrief when they get back. Ask questions, sure, but forget what you saw in that YouTube commercial that one time and listen.
-COVID is impacting their ability to offer full classes but get your people in the chute and they’ll get in. Might take multiple times but keep re applying.
-Long term project in the course work is immediately adaptable to individual unit PT plans and the cadre come from a diverse background which enables them to help tailor programs for individual students.
- THIS IS NOT AN ACFT GRADER CERTIFICATION COURSE.
-THIS IS NOT A “HOW TO DO PRT” COURSE.
-THIS IS NOT A “ONE PER COMPANY” ADDITIONAL DUTY, HOWEVER MANY MFTS YOU HAVE, YOU NEED MORE.
In closing, absolutely push your people to this course. The MFTs you have, the fewer injuries you’ll end up with and the more effective your programming will be. Integrate them into your long range planning just like you integrate the SHARP, EO and MRT NCOs/Officers. PLEASE.

What the fuck is that shit. Can I delete that one all by itself or will they all get deleted?
