Since graduating, I& #39;ve had two types of job.

The first type is a seasonal job. Those have been fine. In some cases, even delightful. I enjoy the job and then when I& #39;m done, I& #39;m done.
The second type of job I& #39;ve had is entry-level positions at big corporations, and it& #39;s so so clear how they have strong incentives to keep turnover as high as possible.
I& #39;m a pretty good employee. I solve people& #39;s problems. Customers like me. Trainers consistently tell me how good I am at the job. I& #39;m able to mask pretty well.

But I can& #39;t swallow the corporate koolaid. I just can& #39;t, no matter how hard I try.
Corporations need people who have drunk the koolaid, or who can pretend to very well. If you don& #39;t, they want you out, no matter how good you are.
It& #39;s been shockingly clear with my most recent job. This is the second call center position I& #39;ve held.

The first one I had was seasonal. I enjoyed it just fine.
But on my more recent position, which is a corporate one, they don& #39;t care whether I fix people& #39;s problems.

They care if I& #39;m selling people things. If I& #39;m saying exactly the right things to "keep my metrics up." if I& #39;m being 100% on brand with the company.
And if I& #39;m not, they will exhaust me and wear me down until I step in line or leave.

And that& #39;s on top of customers already being a pain in the ass a lot of the time.
I think older generations really don& #39;t get just how manipulative and bad most entry-level positions are these days.

There& #39;s no upwards growth anymore. Companies just wear you down until you move on. S& #39;why nobody in our generation can get a foothold in the economy.
Corporations have never been doing better, and it& #39;s in their best interests to keep the poor poor as long and as much as possible.
