Okay, I said I would do a cute thread, so here I am. For context, I'm studying Organizational Behavior; and as I was reading a required text for the course, I found something interesting.

With that, I welcome you to my thread on TaeGi's dynamic and soft positional bargaining!
[DISCLAIMER] ⚠️

I am not a professional in the field of Organizational Behavior. I am simply a student who is studying it as a postgraduate course. Everything I say from here on out are MY observations based on MY point of view. Please take it with a grain of salt.

Enjoy!
Before I get into anything, allow me to define what positional bargaining is. It is a form of negotiation where you start out with a high or low stake and make a series of (usually reciprocal) concessions until all parties reach an agreement.
An example of this would be haggling the price of an item in the market.

("I'll give you $50 for the ring."
"I'm not accepting any lower than $100.")

Or it could be a child negotiating how long they can stay up for.

("Just 30 more minutes, mom?"
"No. You have 15 minutes.")
Positional bargaining happens more than people think. But what is soft positional bargaining? When playing the soft negotiating game, you see the other side as friends and prioritize reaching an agreement, regardless of whether you're satisfied with the terms or not.
It's the opposite of hard positional bargaining, where you see the other side as the adversary and are more interested in reaching an agreement with terms that favor you and are tailored to your needs.

But what does this have to do with a cute thread about TaeGi? I'll show you.
All BTS members have differences with one another, but Yoongi has mentioned in BV2 that out of all the members in the group, the person who he found most difficult to reach a consensus with was Taehyung. It's actually why I decided to make a thread on them specifically.
Many would think that because of their inability to see eye-to-eye, it would sour their relationship and result in them lashing out at each other, but if you've ever seen them interact with one another, that's actually never the case. So, how is their dynamic so nice?
The answer? Yoongi's ability to use soft positional bargaining when reasoning with Taehyung. In my opinion, it's one of the most integral parts of their dynamic—the fact that Yoongi is such an outspoken person but is so willing to concede whenever Taehyung is involved.
Take this moment, for example. Tae wanted to hug Yoongi, and Yoongi, being the not-so-touchy person that he is, originally pushed him away. But notice how when he went to go rejoin the other members, he tapped Taehyung on the back, giving Taehyung consent to hug him. He CONCEDED.
If you were to interpret this as stakes, Tae's stake was "I want to hug you" and Yoongi's stake was "I don't want you to hug me". But instead of getting Tae to make enough concessions to meet in the middle (e.g. arm around the shoulder), he withdrew entirely and let Tae hug him.
Or this moment when Tae wanted Yoongi to say "I love you" back to him. Originally, Yoongi was using hard positional bargaining, instead saying "thank you" and then trying to tell Taehyung to forget it altogether, but then Taehyung says:

"You should say it or I won't leave."
One characteristic of hard positional bargaining is making threats to pressure the other side into conceding so that you won't have to. Here, Tae's (very mild) threat was that Yoongi either says "I love you", or else he's not leaving his studio.
And Yoongi, after realizing that Tae was not budging from his original stake, immediately switches to playing the soft negotiating game and said a very gentle "I love you". He even said it a second time after Tae pretended like he couldn't hear him the first time.
I also want to mention this iconic moment from a Run BTS episode where they played a very strange game of limbo where one teammate would have to carry the other under the bar to win. Despite not being in last place, Tae still wanted to try and carry Yoongi under.
Not wanting to waste energy when they didn't need to, Yoongi tried to convince Tae against the idea, but when Yoongi asked Tae one more time if he wanted to do it, it literally took one set of puppy-dog eyes and a smile for Yoongi to go from no to yes. In THREE SECONDS.
In most TaeGi negotiations, Yoongi barely opposes Tae's opinion. Like this clip, where Tae wanted Yoongi to do a silly walk with him in the grocery store, and Yoongi only questioned him once before conceding. JK said it best: funny to ask for such a thing, but funnier to do it.
Or in this clip, when Tae wanted to do a goofy expression and Yoongi didn't question him AT ALL. He just stops his cooking to join Tae in gasping dramatically at the camera. Immediate concession.
As I've said before, Tae seems to be a hard positional bargainer by nature, and he can sometimes find it difficult to adapt, but that's okay! In fact, it's one of the things that make him so charming and funny to everyone he meets, even if BTS do tease him about it a little. 😂
As for Yoongi, he seems to be someone who would prefer doing things his own way. HOWEVER, he's flexible. This is why he can be a hard positional bargainer with the other members. Yes means yes and no means no. But with Taehyung, he's more than willing to bend his rules.
But do not be mistaken! Tae being a hard positional bargainer with Yoongi doesn't mean he's a stubborn brat and Yoongi being a soft one with Tae doesn't mean he's a pushover. Since they both have so many differences, it's only natural that Tae wants to stick with what he knows.
And as for Yoongi, since he's flexible, he can adapt to people who may not be okay with stepping too much out of their comfort zone. And this is the main reason why he is so ready to focus on Tae's interests whenever they're together. It's the reason why TaeGi just WORKS.
I learned that soft positional bargaining is normally used with people closest to you like friends and family, as playing the soft negotiating game means you are valuing your relationship above all else. So it's very sweet that Yoongi goes out of his way to do this for Tae.
Normally, people don't advise you to use the soft method because you will always be vulnerable to those who play a hard game, but Yoongi never minds. I mean, who can blame him for wanting to indulge Tae?

All in all, the dynamic between Taehyung and Yoongi is so lovely. 🥺
