📌 Things are relatively quiet here on the Springfield Road although crowd seems to be getting bigger. Good to see some youth workers have arrived at the scene to engage with the groups. No sign of PSNI
Remarkable scenes here. Young people started to set up a road blockage on Springfield Rd. Moments later a group of 6 or 7 older men arrived and removed the palettes and other debris from the road. Tensions rising here. More over on @BelfastLive
The arrival of youth workers and other community activists has put a stop on the stone throwing and fires. Nothing coming from the other side of Lanark Way gates.
Huge crowds now leaving interface gates and making their way up the Springfield Road despite pleas from youth workers to go home
Things still ongoing here on the Springfield Road. Residents have told me on the scene that they do not want this behaviour in their area. They’ve appealed to parents to come and get their children. Crowds moving up and down the road now with bricks and bottles
A crowd of men and women have gathered at the interface gates near Lanark Way from the Springfield Road side - they don’t want any violence on the streets tonight. Things relatively quiet but crowds of young people now returning to the area.

I asked the PSNI tonight if they are on the scene. A spokesperson said: “Police are aware and we will be monitoring the situation.”
The rain has just started. Young men walking about with petrol canisters but there has been no further stone throwing or fires lit. A short while ago a firework was let off in Cupar Street.

Reports that PSNI water canons have been deployed further up the Springfield Road.
Youths have moved up the road. Quiet near the Lanark Way interface gates. Community activists still here acting as a barrier to the gates. The sound of fireworks can be heard in the distance.
The community here on the Springfield Road have been superb tonight. Residents have offered me coffees and offered me to come into their homes if things get too serious. Smashing people who don’t deserve this.
