They never use the money to actually address any sort of instability by giving people resources

They spend most of it on salaries and “raising awareness” which tends to be ads encouraging the public to report more, and training programs for business (like hotels) to report more

Reports have no direct correlation to actual abuse, and since they try to make people report as much as possible, flood the numbers with bullshit

Bigger numbers means more funding for them, but it ALSO means actual people in harms way are less likely to be noticed and helped

So their work pushing these reports and reporting tools directly makes things worse for people in danger..

by stealing funding from programs that actually supply help, while pushing racist and nonsense narratives about trafficking that result in more stigma and criminalization

The fact is there have always been plenty of avenues to “report” and ask for help, from police to shelters etc.

but victims can’t reach out to police under fear of police abuse and possible rest, and programs that people would go to for help are under funded or means tested

The entire rescue and “anti-trafficking” industry is super bankrupt when it comes to this. They’ve known most of the reports have nothing to do with abuse, but print the numbers anyway, cause startling numbers are the point. Ppl actually trying to help actively complain to them

Literally orgs all over the US, law enforcement in many countries, & survivors have been telling these report generating orgs that their numbers and approaches have been harmful, been telling them for YEARS.
