Kevin Garnett is one of the most versatile players in NBA history and one of the best of all time. He absolutely revolutionized the game of basketball for a 7FT and paved the way for other bigs like Kevin Durant, Giannis and Bam Adebayo.

This is my thread on Kevin Garnett.
Context: Kevin Garnett is my favorite player of all time, the energy and intensity he brought every single night matched with his all time passing and elite versatility made him impossible not to love.
My Criteria When Ranking and Valuing Players:

- I do not value Team Success/Winning or Accolades
- I value fit with any team
- I use 2 Peak Yr and heavy lean towards peak vs longevity
The standout and easily most impactful part of KGs game is his defense, his long arms and all time defensive versatility in his 7Ft frame matched with all time IQ makes him a top 3 defender ever. He was the best rim protector and perimeter defender on the Wolves for a decade.
Garnett's lateral quickness and insane vertical leap allows him to switch from a guard on the perimeter to downlow in the paint in seconds. In the 2003 Playoffs Vs the Lakers you can find KG guarding Kobe one play and shadowing Shaq the next play. He was INSANE.
Another part of KGs game that makes him one of the best bigs of all time was his passing and handle for the basketball, at times he moved like a point guard and made passes like one too, KG said once that he sometimes modeled his game after Magic Johnson. He truly was a PG.
A part of KGs game that gets severely underrated for some apparent reason is that he was an all time shooting big, In his Peak Season (2003-2004) He shot from 16-3PT 32% of the time for a crazy 44%

He shot 45% from 16-3PT for his whole career.
KG was also an all time rebounder, his lanky frame and long arms made it easy to box people and grab any rebounder within an arms reach.

in 03-04 KG averaged 13.5 RPG and averaged 10 for his career.
Now, Time for some stats.

2003-2004 KG:

- 26.6 IA Pts/75
- 13.4 IA RPG
- 5.2 IA APG
- +3.80 rTS%
- 7.9 Adjusted Box Creation
- 5.6 Adjusted Passer Rating
- 6.9 BPM
- -3.2 Team Drtg
- 1st Seed In The Western Conference
Due to all time horrible management that still haunts the Minnesota Timberwolves the Western Conf. Finals are as far as KG was able to carry this team in his time with the Wolves but he proved in his time there he was an all time floor raiser, but in Boston he was something else.
In 2008, KG was traded to the Boston Celtics to form a big 3 with Paul Pierce and Ray Allen, In this role he was able to prove he could also be an all time ceiling raiser as he won DPOY and an NBA Championship his first year there.
2007-2008 KG:

- 23.3 IA Pts/75
- 9.1 IA RPG
- 3.5 IA APG
- +4.80 rTS%
- 6.3 Adjusted Passer Rating
- 36% of his shots were from 16-3PT (48% from this range)
- 6.2 BPM
- -8.6 Team Drtg
- 1st Seed In The East.
The following season KG would go on to only play 57 games meaning we unfortunately weren't able to see KG be an all time ceiling raiser for very long but it was pretty obvious his secondary playmaking spacing and all time defense made him perfect for the role.
With all that being said in my opinion i believe KG is a top 10 player of all time with a top 6 peak, KGs game would easily transfer over to the modern NBA perfectly and even better than it did back then. He is the prototypical modern day big, he is amazing, he is KG.
This was my first time ever recording clips or anything so it isn't perfect but pls like and RT i put a lot of time into it!
