from the 1960’s-1990’s there was a period of time in ireland called the troubles. northern ireland is under british rule, but many people living there are nationalists and want freedom from the uk. others are unionists and are very happy being part of the uk

as you may guess, this causes a lot of tension in northern ireland. during the troubles there was a lot of violence from both sides for many years. in 1998 the Good Friday Agreement was signed in effort to end this, but there is still disagreement

violence has started up again recently because of brexit, britain leaving the EU, as it is causing yet more divide in ireland.

as a irish person this obviously is scary. we have seen the consequences that have happened in the past and we can’t let history repeat itself. please spread awareness!!
