Ok, it's time. I'm starting a thread. The sh*t people say to you when you're a musician. Please feel free to add to this. I'll start with one of my personal favourites:

"I heard your song on the radio last night! I didn't really get it to be honest."
Sh*t people say at gigs:

"That was great. You need to get out there more."

"That was lovely. Would you think of trying to write catchier songs though? I can't imagine them on the radio."

"You should be looking for better gigs. They're not just gonna fall into your lap."
Me: *chatting to the other act after a gig*
Randomer: *to other act* You are incredible, wanna come sing in my pub? *turns to me* I mean...you're good too, but *turns back to other act* you're amazing
Music blog: Hey we saw you have some passes to give away for your gig tonight. We are a new blog and were wondering if we could have two of them for a competition?
Me: Sure, why not.
Music blog: WIN TICKETS TO SEE *names other act* AT THE WORKMAN'S CLUB TONIGHT!
Me: ok wow
Ok ok ok I have another one. This is 100% not a joke.

"Have you ever thought about going down the sexy route?"
Someone I'd just met for the first time 5mins previously:

"Would you not become a school teacher? Then you'd have the summer holidays to do your music thing!"
"Heeeeey I run these monthly songwriter nights, you should come play sometime! Not next month though, I already have a female on that one."
"Would you not email Jools Holland?"
