what did xie lian even do for eight centuries besides getting buried and trampled alive? a thread
he took a 60 year nap
he popularized a fashion trend in a limited region for a short period of time. maybe something ruoye related
he learned how to make straw hats
he had a fleeting romance with a prince. he doesn& #39;t even know it was a romance. the guy wrote him poetry and offered him his kingdom and xie lian thinks they were just very good friends
he either lead or was part of a rebellion at some point. he didn& #39;t even know who they were rebelling against. they won
he taught caligraphy to kids
he sort of had a cat once. what a strange cat that was. he& #39;d come and go bringing him back knicks and knacks consistently for 50 years. he& #39;s pretty sure cats don& #39;t live that long
he wrote a couple songs. some of them got pretty popular. hua cheng has no idea. xie lian catches him humming a familiar tune once
he learned a dance. he actually turned out to be a natural. when hua cheng finds out he& #39;s gonna die
thinking about names for ruoye. took him at least 20 years. and even once he had named him he kept changing it. he didn& #39;t settle on one for more time than he& #39;s willing to admit
he also spent a fair enough time suffering of food poisoning before he could steel his stomach to his own cooking
he learned how to sail. his boat was struck by lightning at least three times before he finally gave up on it
pls leave your own headcanons under this. i believe it is a crime the only adventures of xie lian the immortal we got was the ones where he suffered
also the fact that canonically xie lian and hua cheng almost met a number of times and barely missed each other bc of xie lian& #39;s bad luck leaves so much room for the most frustrating situations you could write about
oh he absolutely tried gardening but if you ask him about it he will vehemently change the subject. if it was so disastrous he ruined the crops of an entirely village or he cried about his dead plants for days, well, have you seen the weather lately, san lang?
some scholar writing about the fallen kingdom of xianle interviews him. he talks about the traditions and the scenery but he refuses talking about the war. the scholar mumbles it doesn& #39;t matter, he got all the information he needed from a very enthusiastic man in red
