THE HISTORY OF CHRISTINA AGUILERA
(a thread)

She was JUST LIKE US
She was just a little girl who liked to sing, when she was 4 her dad beat her for the first time, because she was singing loud 🔊

''...once upon a time there was a girl...''
then her mother started to be the target of her father's abuse. She remember one night little Christina reached out and said: Mommy, let's go to our grandma's house. Her mom was terrified but they ended leaving her father

''it hurt me to see the pain across my mother's face..''
while living with her grandma she started to feel the call of the old blues & soul singers, voices like etta's had little Christina shocked, she was capable of feeling all the pain those women were singing about and found her shelter in that kind of music

''at last...''
she loved singing soul music, she was a little girl who sounded like an old soul, she was starting to develop a sound that conveyed all that suffering from previous years. She found her own way to deal with the pain

''... daddy don't you understand, the damaged you've done...''
Soon she started to sing at gigs and events, she was very talented and people wanted to hear her singing. Of course she wasn't like the other kids and started to experience another kind of abuse

''...young girl don't cry, I'll be right here when your world starts to fall.. ''
Yes, Christina was, like many of us a victim of bullying, she was the outcast, she wasn't like the others. Bullying at such a young age is tough, feeling like you don't belong anywhere, you want to fit but can't

''...when you're safe inside your room, you tend to dream... ''
Later she found a home at the MMC, she finally was doing what she loved without being marginalized. She had friends who shared her same passion, it was indeed a dream came true

''... of a place when nothing is harder than it seems...''
She had finally found a happy place, but dreams don't last forever and the show was canceled. All her life goals had been frustrated because of external factors and MMC was another one to the list

''... everyday is so wonderful and suddenly it's hard to breathe...''
The years after were all about Aguilera pursuing her dreams. Reflection for Mulan was the first step to accomplish the dreams and in 99 she found the Genie she needed

''... I'm feeling like a little girl caught up in emotions...''
Everything seems to be happy. Then media started to compare her with Britney, it was an exhausting time going anywhere and being asked for Britney, they were very different artists but people didn't see that and Aguilera got frustrated again.

''... i wonder where my place is''
She wanted to stay away from all of that, do the music she wanted and being considered as an individual, not the shadow of anyone. All the joy in her life came with a little bit of pain, and she went to a dark place

... the echoes of a broken child screaming please no more...
She released all the pain she had endured in the shape of Music. With Stripped her voice soared louder, she told us her truth, feelings, fears, insecurities, she opened up and the world decided to criticize her for being comfortable with herself, despite all, she was healing
She kept on singing her song that era, defending a lot of us, giving us a Voice, she was going hard in portraying acceptance, empowering messages and freedom. She saved a lot of lives and still does.

''...we are BEAUTIFUL no matter what they say...''
When her commercial success faded people started hating on her for no reason besides low sales. The current tendency is to diminish her, to bury her legacy and her work. She's not flawless and she doesn't need to be

... soon the shine fades, and you'll left all alone...
When she could, she used her voice for us. She said once: Thanking your giving me the opportunity, for allowing me this form of expression called singing. She's always been there waiting for a change, supporting the underdogs but these days they want her to be forgotten.
This is a woman who has survived many harsh things in life, she decided to go on the direction of fighting hard for rights, she wanted joy and freedom for all of us. She has been mistreated, diminished and knocked down just because she wanted to be herself, something we all want.
That's part of the history that led her to be THE VOICE OF A GENERATION.
It was a long road but she was always there giving voice to those who hadn't and she has to be respected for that. She's a human being and has suffered like us.

...I'm a Fighter and I ain't gon stop!
