I know academia is a precarious and difficult field but I am *so* tired of the whole 'do not do a PhD' tweets. I get that it's just people being honest about their lived experience but as a final year PhD it's a bit gutting to read every single day about my lack of future.

I know this is a very 'head in the sand' tweet and not directed at those posting about their own personal job rejections etc, it's more the sweepingly long threads about how shit everything is that bug me. It's constant and is really demotivating.

TLDR - pleasant lies over disheartening truths pls.

Not advocating toxic positivity either - so basically I have no solution to this or any idea of what I want people to do instead. Just a vague idea of how it makes me feel.
